Treatment.

A black screen starts off. It has the words "One day until Madison Square Garden." At the same time there will be a voice over saying "You haven't made it until you have played New York and sold out the Garden."

Present day.
New York City.
Backstage of MSG.
Midday.

Slowly, the black screen fades out and becomes a video of the American flag blowing in the wind with a person putting a heart shape made by their hands around the flag. A shot from the middle of the road looking at cars going past in both directions. The sound of  horns honking and the birds chirping. It is very peaceful atmosphere. This contrasts with the next shot of chaos and mayhem. Lots of young girls and fans at Madison Square Garden. Lots of screaming and talking and very crowded as people are pushing to get in to the concert.

An interview from a young girl who is a big fan. She stands there swinging side to side with a big grin on her face. She tells the camera how much she loves Katy Perry.

Then it will flash to the singer getting ready. She will be sitting in the chair getting her makeup and hair done. She will be facing the mirror, and will look into the camera from the mirror and smile and wave, she laugh and smiles as the camera goes away. Her makeup and hair artist will also turn and give a little wave to the camera. Katy is sitting with her legs crossed on the chair. She has a dressing gown on and her hair/makeup is half done. The camera (shot like a handheld family movie) backs away out of the door and the door closes as the last shot of this scene. *blackout*

Flash to a female fan. talking about how much he LOVES Katy Perry. stands with his girlfriend and says "Im almost as in love with her music as I am with my boyfriend hehe!" Her boyfriend stands there looking at the camera with a very blank expression on his face and a slight smile. She will start to look at little confused as she keeps going on about Katy. The volume of the girl talking gets quieter as the camera fades put onto the next scene.

The next flash back to the singer; Shes looking through a rack of clothing in a dressing room and holding the ones she likes best up to the stylist. The camera will be on the opposite side of the clothes rack and be a close up of Katys head peaking through the clothes. She holds one outfit which the stylist shakes her head and then another which she shakes her head again. Katy finally holds up one last thing up to the stylist, and she nods. We will not see what it is until later on.

The third flash to the fans; a group of about 3-5girls, about our age slightly younger, standing with signs saying "WE LOVE KATY" and different signs like that, all saying how much they love her and they idolize her and how beautiful she is. They start singing one of her songs and dance around.

The third flash to the singer is going to be when all the crew and family of Katy are standing in a circle as a pre-concert talk/encouragement/support thing. They are excited and preped for the concert and jumping up and down, looking at eachother in excitement. The background sound will be the cheers and the cries of excited fans waiting for the concert to begin. You will be able to hear them all yelling and screaming. You will not be able to hear particular people as singles because it will sound like a concert crowd .. because it is a concert. *slow motion*

In the last flash of interviewing the fans, it will be the singers parents. They will talk about her love for singing and her love for her music. As they talk they are just going to be casually sitting outside on the deck on the deck chairs. Her mum finishes of the interview with "we are just so proud of our daughter." She has a sparkle in her eye and she turns and looks at her husband and then it fades out to the last Katy flash.

The last Katy flash; A guy walks into the room. He wears a headphone thing and black clothes. He leans in the door and tells everyone that Katy has to leave now to go perform. As she walks to the door, she turns around and gives the camera a wave goodbye, then closes the door behind her.

The very last scene will be with different fan videos all poping up on the screen. There will be lots of them coming up and getting faster and fast and faster and smaller and more of them will be poping up. The tension will build up and a sound effect will come on. The buzzing sound that will slowly get louder. And then BAM you see the crowd in MSG and they are going mad for

Concept Idea!

My idea is about music. About Madison Square Garden. I am using Justin Biebers movie opening, :), as my inspiration. At the beginning it flicks from Youtube videos of Justin Bieber singing and then too when he is getting ready for his concert. Because its a documentry movie, it has interviews from his fans and from his grandparents and from his mom. Im also making the movie Starstruck as my inspiration. It is not a documentry, its fiction. Its about a popstar and he shows concert footage too. Its not quite the same idea as Justin Biebers one, but it has footage of fans coming up to him wanting his autograph etc.

My opening is going to have a voice over saying "you havent made it until you have sold out Madison Square Garden" on a black screen saying "1 day until MSG" The idea of this is to show the build up to the concert at Madison Square Garden. Im going to show 2 or 3 people, or maybe just one main person as celebrities getting ready for the sold out concert. Its going to flash to the different people. Its a documentry. Im going to show different crowds of people from youtube videos. They will be screaming fans for all the celebs. Im possibly going to show real life footage of Madison Square Garden. All my other footage will be all my own. I plan to get in my best friend Catherine, and two other people who i am not sure of. Im going to use music in the background. I am going to have interviews with "fans."

I am aiming to draw a teen audience. I am also aiming for a early 20s audience too. I want to make this a happy movie and make it as if it was a big celebrity that people would be desperate to watch and enjoy watching a movie about.

Film Techniques - Cruel intentions.

What type of techniques did the director use?

Music;  This song - Every You Every Me, by Placebo - created the happy mood at the beginning of the scene. It is a feel good kind of song, one you might want to sing or dance too aswell. It fits well in this scene because it makes you want to keep watching it. It also fits in with the scene because the lyrics tell a story. To me the lyrics fit in with the whole movie.

Character Performance; The beginning has two main characters in it, Sebastian and the Councillor. We immediately know whos who. The councillor is the authoritive figure, shes asking Sebastian how he feels, giving him advice. This helps to create a tense mood. You know that its a serious situation, but with Sebastians humor, it takes away the seriousness of the "being at a concillors."

Shot Movement,Camera Angle; The beginning of the film, Sebastian is in his car going down the highway. The camera kind of dives in onto it and into his face. The camera then moves away and does a pan of the city. This creates the happy mood we see, and the interesting mood. It makes us want to keep watching to see what will come next. Its a nice scenic view aswell. It shows us the city and how beautiful it is.

Lighting and Colour; The lighting in the scene is very bright coloured. The lighting contrasts well with the sunny day because the colors you seen in scene are light colors that reflect the sun quite a lot. It makes it look like a nice pleasant scene rather than a more darker, full on movie. It almost is a surprise for the audience.

Genre/Atmosphere.

What tone/mood has the directer of this film created?

The mood and tone of this opening is quite a happy one, yet it is rather serious. The opening scene has nice music which you could easily dance too. The weather in the opening is sunny and hot. The sky is blue and theres birds flying everywhere. Sebastian has a serious look on his face suggesting he is off to somewhere important, which he is, he is heading to the concillor. The camera does a pan of the city, across all the tall buildings and over the highway. It shows the beautiful city of New York. Its a very glorious, joyful opening, yet it has that tinge of serious and a bit of tension too.

Cruel Intentions!

I chose the movie "Cruel Intentions" because it is one of my favourite movies. It has amazing actors in it and has a wonderful strory line.

This movie based on a bet that step brother and step sister, Katheryn and Sebastian, make. Katheryn makes the bet that Sebastian won't be able to get in bed with Annette. Annette is a young virgin who wants to wait untill love. If Katheryn wins shes gets Sebastians Jaguar, if Sebastian wins, he gets Kathryn.

Sebastian has a reputaion. This reputation includes sleeping with lots of girls. Getting them in bed and then never talking to them again. His line; "You have killer legs. I'd love to photograph them." He needs to keep this reputation up, so the bet is made on Annette because her father is going to be the new Principle at their High School. Sebastian thinks this will be great for his reputation and will be his "greatest victory yet."

The opening is really good, because it has a really funky song playing the background. The beginning part shows a pan across New York City. It shows the motorway and the car that Sebastian drives going along it. It really drew me in because the song and the scenery was a good mix together that really went well as a combination. After that, it then has a close up of Sebastians face, but upside down. It pans out and shows that he is in an office with a councillor. He is in the counciller talking about his current "reputation." Sebastian is saying lines like, "I'm a fool." and "I can't feel sorry for myself because i'm some poor little rich boy." He doesn't really mean it, he is only trying to make the councillor feel sorry for him and is trying to make the her think he is going to stop all his "bad habits." Really it is just an act. He goes on to tell her she has killer legs and he would love to photograph them, and then tells her that was the old him and he has changed. You can tell Sebastian is putting on an act because of the way he says things. He says them almost like he means them but instead with sarcastic tone. The character of Sebastian is a very unique one. He is a charming young man, very smart, good looking, but with a bad reputation that he likes to upkeep.

The opening scene fits in with the rest of the movie, because of two things. You see Sebastian driving his car, the one that plays a big part in the whole movie but especially in the bet. The next part of it when hes in the councillor fits in perfectly too, because you see Sebastians character very clearly. You automatically know he is a flirt because of the way he is with when hes with the councillor.

My Auntie suggested I watch this movie, becasue it is also one of her favourites. The thing that appealed to me most about this movie was the actors in it and the story line. When i read the back of the DVD, I was automatically into it. When I started watching it, I really enjoyedthe characters and what their personalitys were like and also the music. I really enjoyed this movie a lot.
